In May 2006, 50 years after opening the North Hills YMCA branch, the YMCA moved into our new home on Nicholson Road in Franklin Park. We are very excited to open the Baierl Family YMCA. Located at the facility are both indoor and outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art health and wellness center, group exercise studio, climbing wall, five locker rooms, a gymnasium, a running/walking track, and a Child Watch Center.

YMCA Youth Sports offers boys and girls opportunities to learn and enjoy sports without pressure and competition. Our goals: Fun, Fair Play and Learning! Equipment is provided.
The Baierl Family YMCA follows the nationally recognized YMCA Swim Lessons Program, developed by experts and field tested by Y aquatic instructors.
All children not potty trained must wear protective swim pants in the pool.
Classes are based on seven lessons of intensive and progressive teaching techniques. Six out of seven lessons are guaranteed.
The aquatic director or swim lesson coordinator will have a brief meeting with parents before the start of each session. Procedures will be explained and any questions will be answered.
Participants must shower before entering the pool.
All participants with hair to the shoulders or longer must either tie it back or wear a swim cap.
No refunds will be given after the start of the session.
All classes will be closed for registration at 9pm on the Wednesday before the session starts. Staffing levels will be addressed at this time.

These programs begin in October and continue throughout the school year. These are family programs designed for father/son, father/daughter, mother/son, or mother/daughter. In these YMCA programs, it is understood that the parent serves as a guide in a child’s life. Parents lead, direct, supervise, influence, and teach while presenting opportunities for children to explore the world around them. Some of our activities include, picnics, boating, fishing, horseback riding, crafts, derby races and campouts.
This is a Father/Son program designed for children in kindergarten through third grade. Groups are formed and they meet monthly at a member's home. Special events are planned monthly through the year.

Teen Leaders Club is a Teen Led, Teen Driven club for teens ages 12-17 who are interested in building their leadership skills, gaining valuable teamwork experience, and working in their community through volunteer opportunities. Leaders work throughout the school year to make a difference by serving their community and participating in social and team building activities. Teens meet once per week to plan upcoming events and volunteer activities. The Kiwanis Club of Allegheny North and the Baierl Family YMCA are currently seeking charter members for a Kiwanis Aktion Club in Northern Allegheny County. Aktion Club membership is open to adults over the age of 18 with physical or mental disabilities. The club will meet regularly in the North Hills for social activities and community service.
The Mission of Aktion Club is to provide adults with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative and leadership skills, to serve the community, to be integrated into society and to demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities.

YMCA staff will run sports activities for your son or daughter for one hour in the gym or you can have a one hour swim in the pool. You also receive one hour in the community room for your party. (you supply the cake and ice cream) You must have a Full Facility Family membership to reserve a party and the child must be at least 4 years of age. Birthday parties are $150.00 for two hours.
