Public Policy Community Benefit Statement

YMCAs are founded to serve the whole person: spirit, mind and body. Our YMCA provides much needed programs and services that focus on the healthy lifestyles of individuals, families and children from all incomes, all ages and all abilities in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The YMCA earns its 501(c)(3) tax exemption from the IRS based on several factors, including:

1. In the absence of a YMCA, the costs of its services would be borne by taxpayers through government-funded programs.
2. The YMCA reinvests all income back into the community.
   
3. The YMCA is accessible to the whole community.
   
4. The YMCA programs and activities follow its mission.
