Day Camp Counselors

Summer Sports Camp Coaches

The South Hills Branch of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is looking for coaches to help instruct the basic fundamentals for the following sports: football, baseball, soccer, street hockey, and basketball.  Kids for these camps will range from 3 to 5 years (soccer and t-ball only) and 6 to 12 (all camps).  Knowledge of the sport is required.  If you want to pass your knowledge of the above sports onto our community youth, then contact the South Hills YMCA at 412-833-5600.


Assistant Child Care Practitioner/Teacher

Parttime opportunities for child care practitioner to plan for, play with and nuture children, infant through schoolage in NAEYC accredited child development center.  Associates degree in early childhod education, child development, education or other child-related field minimum educational requirement along with two years experience caring for and working with children in groups.

Part-time After School Instructor

YMCA of Pittsburgh seeks to hire a part-time after school instructor position for an after-school program called FASA (Fostering Academic and Social Achievement).  FASA is the result of a community partnership between Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh Public Schools, the Homewood-Brushton YMCA and the Marilyn G. Rabb Foundation.  FASA will serve up to 25 sixth graders from the Homewood community attending Faison School, Intermediate Campus on site at the HB YMCA.  The program is funded by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services office of Minority Health. 

 
Instructor will be responsible for planning, implementing, and delivering structured tutoring sessins using PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Strategies) for sixth grade mathematics twice a week during the after school program.  A free training opportunity on PALS will be available and college tutors will support the instructor in implementing PALS sessions. 
 
Applicants must be certified to teach within Pennsylvania, or must obtain credentials under Pennsylvania's Educational Assistance Program as directed by FASA.  Instructor and tutors with training or experience in teaching mathematics as the sixth grade or middle school level will be preferred. 
Instructor should attend upcoming training session Friday, September 21, 2007.

The Highmark Employee Wellness Center, managed by the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, is a facility that specializes in the design and delivery of worksite health promotion, fitness management and group exercise programs and services for all Highmark Employees.  Highmark, in combination with the YMCA Activate Pittsburgh team works to deliver the cities' most rogressive and successful fitness and health promotion programs.  Together, we deliver exemplary health and wellness services.  In addition, we design and deliver innovative health promotion programs that show measurable results, manage day-to-day fitness facilities and provide the most innovative group exercise programs and services.  The YMCA offers our employees a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as career development paths to assist them in preparing for the many career advancement opportunities available in our organization.  We are currently recruiting for a Health and Wellness Director to oversee all operations of the Highmark Employee Wellness Center in Pittsburgh, PA.  Under the direction of the Activate Pittsburgh Director, the Highmark Health and Wellness Director will be responsible for the daily operation of the wellness center; including cardio and strength training, group exercise , staff scheduling, wellness assessments, recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff; both full and part time.  Successful candidate need to demonstrate that they are a proven leader in the field of Health and Wellness, be enthusiastic, personable, highly motivated, a self-starter, a importantly a team player. Qualified applicants will have at minimum a Masters degree in Exercise Science or related field, two to four years of proven supervisory experience, excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, computer skills, and working knowledge of the member retention systems, organizational skills and must be multi-task oriented.
