The YMCA stand for the Young Men's Christian Association. Men and women, young and old, and people of all religions are welcome at the YMCA. We are open to and serve all.

What are some of the community outreach programs at the YMCA?
Community development and outreach efforts include counseling, tutoring, food programs, housing, pre-school and after school child care, teen leadership development programs, health and wellness programs, and more.

Do you offer discounts?
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh does not offer discounts for several reasons: 1) We believe all people should be treated equally and our pricing should reflect that belief system. 2) Our prices are set at the lowest possible rate at which we feel we can offer quality YMCA programs and services. 3) Financial assistance is available for those individuals and families who temporarily or permanently cannot afford to pay all or part of YMCA membership fees.

What is your guest policy?
You are welcome to use the YMCA facility if you are not a member, to determine if membership is right for you. When accompanied by a member, you can purchase a guest gpass for only ten dollars . The guest pass fee will be applied toward the cost of membership when you join. You may purchase up to 3 guest passes per calendar year.

Why is there a joining fee and what is it used for?
The joining fee is used by the YMCA for facility upgrades and improvements (such as fresh paint, roof repairs, new fitness equipment and upgrades). The joining fee is a one-time expense for the life of your active membership.

I have a membership at a YMCA in Pittsburgh can I use it at YMCAs across the country?
Yes. You are Always Welcome At YMCAs (AWAY program). Your membership card entitles you to visit more than 2,000 other YMCAs across the country and worldwide when you travel.

Are the YMCA and YWCA related?
They are separate, national organizations with similar missions. In some cities, these organizations have joined together. In Pittsburgh, they are two different organizations.

What is the Christian affiliation of the YMCA?
Although our name is the Young Men's Christian Association, we are not just for young people, we are not just for men, and we are not just for practicing Christians. We are an association of people who believe in the promotion of Christian principles such as caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Is my contribution to the YMCA tax deductible?
The YMCA is a charitable, nonprofit organization providing services throughout the community. Your financial contribution, is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Can I designate a gift to a specific branch or program?
Of course! Your philanthropic goals are important to us. Just let us know which branch and/or program is nearest and dearest to your heart, and we'll make sure your contribution is allocated accordingly.

Is the Y tax exempt?
Yes. The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

Does the YMCA accept gifts in honor of or in memory of a family member, loved one or friend?
Absolutely. If you wish to make an honorary or memorial donation, we will send personalized cards acknowlegding the gift to the recipient or designated family members.

Are there other ways to give to the YMCA?
