Summer Day Camp

The Thelma Lovette YMCA Summer Day Camp Program provides an excellent setting for children to build friendships and to grow, learn and have fun. Children are offered a variety of imaginative activities that nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and strengthen their bodies. They include swimming, arts and crafts, healthy active play and field trips. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Program hours are Mon-Fri 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Extended care is available upon request.

Types of Personal Training

Single Client Training

You will work one-on-one with one of our trainers who will design a workout regime specifically tailored to your fitness goals, including emphasis on muscular strength, functional strength, cardio endurance, flexibility and core strength.

Partner Training

If you need motivation or want some friendly competition during your workouts, try our Partner TrainingPackages.  You and a friend will share a trainer who will help you both reach your personal fitness goals.  It’s a great way to challenge yourselves, save money and stay motivated.

Our trainers will help to define your goals and design specific workouts for you. This will help you obtain your desired results faster and safer than exercising on your own.

Accountability
Working with a trainer will hold you accountable to regular exercise, keeping your commitment to yourself.  It’s much harder to skip a trip to the Y when you have someone there waiting for you!

Turn weaknesses to strengths
You can’t know how far you’ve come unless you know where you started.  Our trainers can assess your strengths and weakness, focusing on your targeted areas of improvement throughout your individual sessions.

Our trainers will take you through each of your sessions while offering personalized feedback, encouragement, and support to keep you on track for achieving your goals!’

Knowledge
Our trainers hold a minimum of a bachelors degree, as well as a nationally recognized exercise certification. Each trainer can effectively asses your fitness level and design a program specific for your needs.

 
Membership

Membership Options

YMCA Membership Application - bring in to the Welcome Center any time we are open to join! Call 412-315-0990, and select “0″ for the Welcome Center for more information.

All memberships include full use of the wellness floor, swimming pool, a free wellness orientation, and all regularly scheduled group exercise classes. Please visit us for a tour of the facility and more information on pricing.

Branch Adult- Grants access for one adult to the Thelma Lovette YMCA

Branch Family- Grants access for two adults and all dependents up to the age of 18 in the same household to the Thelma Lovette YMCA. Any young adults up to age 22 who are full-time students are also eligible for the membership, but must present their valid student I.D. or current class schedule.

Association-wide AdultGrants access for one adult to all YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh locations.

Association-wide FamilyGrants access for two adults and all dependents up to the age of 18 in the same household access to all YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh locations. Any young adults up to age 22 who are full-time students are also eligible for the membership, but must present their valid student I.D. or current class schedule.

Senior – Grants access for one adult age 62 and over access to the Thelma Lovette YMCA.


Building Bridges Financial Assistance Program

As a health and human service agency, the YMCA plays charitable role in improving the health of the region by making wellness memberships affordable and accessible to all through our income-based membership program, Building Bridges.  Individuals or families with household incomes below $50,000 a year may be eligible to take part in this program. A sliding scale format has been pre-determined for monthly membership fees. In order to qualify, we ask that you please contact Julie Marquez at jmarquez@ymcapgh.org


AWAY Program

As a member of the Y, you’re part of the AWAY program which gives you access to Any Where Any Y in the country outside a 50-mile radius from your home YMCA. Members visiting from another YMCA that is 50 miles or greater away from the Thelma Lovette Y are granted access to our facility 14 times per year with a valid YMCA membership card and Photo I.D.

Private Swim Lessons

Set your own goals, learn at your own speed and learn on your schedule!
All ages welcome for private lessons. They’re now available in six 30-minute packages for $150 for facility members or $200 for program members at the Welcome Center.

Water Aerobics

Cool your workout down with water aerobics! Try classes such as Arthritis Foundation Water Exercise, Aqua Latin Heat, h20 Aerobics on Pointe, h20 Dance Party and & Deep h20 Dance Party. Classes are included with your Y membership.  See our schedule for class times and other information!

Pool Parties

Youth

Friday Open Basketball

Come to the YMCA and enjoy two hours of open gym time, when the gym will be open for basketball games only. You do not need to be a member of the YMCA, all you need is a love for the game of basketball. We will also provide the basketballs. The use of the YMCA facilities is off limits, but you will be allowed to use the bathroom and water fountain on the second floor.

  • 1st & 3rd Fridays of every month
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • IT’S FREE TO THE PUBLIC
  • Ages 13-18
  • Basketball shoes or Sneakers ONLY.

Teen Leaders Club

WANTED: Young people between the ages of 12 to 17 years old who are enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, caring and hard working are encouraged to join the Thelma Lovette Y Teen Leaders Club!

The Leader’s Club program is designed to promote & enhance the personal growth & social skills of young people in order to develop leaders who will be a positive force in their communities. Youth will be awarded the following opportunites:

  • Leadership training
  • Service learning
  • Academic support
  • Socialization & recreation
  • Life skills workshops

Strong Women, Strong Girls

Strong Women, Strong Girls (SWSG) is a FREE program for girls in grades 3-5.

SWSG pairs groups of girls with college age mentors to learn about women’s history, gain leadership skills, and build self-esteem.
